Vintage, traditional, wax-resist batik, textile artwork entitle "Buddha & Attendants" is displayed in a frame with a partial shadowbox, surrounded by a white, raw silk matting. The interior of the border of the set- back or shadow box portion of this piece is giltwood. The batik is nicely framed, matted & set in its display. Provenance on rear in second photo. This was part of a series of traditional batik, handmade in the 1960s by artisans in Taiwan, under the Chinese govt. the batik patterns used in the series “ The Art Of Batik” were definitely influenced by , if not reproductions of the traditional batik patterns used from 220 AD -919 AD approximately. Framed piece measures 20 inches wide , 23.5 inches in height, 1.75 inches deep
